Obituary

Donald Raymond Pearson, 85, died on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Wesley Willows Health Center. Don was born June 12, 1932 at Swedish American Hospital. He was raised in Springfield, IL. He was the son of Erma and Irving Pearson. Don received his Bachelor's degree from Monmouth College, Master's degree from Illinois State University and Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Don married Sandy Lindstedt on August 9, 1970. Their son, David was born on September 9, 1972. His beloved granddaughter Zoey arrived June 23, 2011.
A clinical psychologist in private practice from 1969 until his death, Don was a member of the American Psychological Association, the Rockford College Board of Counselors, and served on the School of Hope Board.
Don was a man of many interests: music, reading, history, archeology, and people. He was an avid bird watcher and spent many hours studying birds and wildlife. He loved vacationing in the tranquility of the North woods of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the state of Maine
Don is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, David; granddaughter, Zoey; brother, Kenneth (Suzie) Pearson; and nephews, John and Alan Pearson. He is predeceased by his parents; brother, Mark; and former wife, Cornelia Brown.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford with Pastor Bobby Sheets officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Memorials can be made to donor's choice.
