Glenn L. Bengtson, 95, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 in his home. Born on January 23, 1923, in Rockford, the son of Iver and Ellen (Johnson) Bengtson. He was a graduate of East High School, class of 1942. Glenn married Ruth E. Heisler on May 21, 1949, in Rockford. She predeceased him on April 3, 2003. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II. Glenn retired as a machine assembler at White - Sundstrand in 1986.
Survived by his children, Catherine (Fiancé, Arthur DeAngelis) Zannis of Phoenix, AZ, Roger (Nancy) Bengtson of Brookfield, WI, Barbara Hansey of Olathe, KS, and Julie (Steven) LaMay of Poplar Grove; grandchildren, Melissa Childs, Jonathan Zannis, Brian and Christine Bengtson, Erik Hansey, and Kayla Richards; and 5 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Thorsten and John Bengtson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford with Reverend Dr. Chuck Olson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services in the church. Burial with honors in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604.
