Arlene M. Adams, 86, of Rockford passed away on January 25, 2018. She was born on July 20, 1931 in Rockford, the daughter of Clarence and Elvera (Hultburg) Swanson. She was a graduate of East High School, class of 1949. Arlene married Richard Adams on August 26, 1950 in Rockford. She worked at Al Grace Appliance and Weinberg & Co. until she was 80 years old. Arlene was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She loved the casino and traveling to Florida and Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Jan (Jim) Pringey of Rockford, Kim (Mark) Hanson of Ft. Myers, FL and Jeff (Janet) Adams of Scottsdale, PA. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents and sister, Shirley Blascoe.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4700 Augustana Dr., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W. State St., Rockford, IL 61102. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd

    Dear Kim and family: We were so sorry to learn of your mom's death. We did not see it in the paper otherwise we surely would have been at the funeral. Over the years, we only saw your mom a handful of times but I remember her pleasant smile and demeanor. She seemed genuinely interested in others and what others had to say. It's never easy losing a parent and we will keep you and your family in our prayers. Love ya!
