William "Bill" D. Pearson, 69, of Cherry Valley, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home from natural causes. Born on September 6, 1948, the son of Clarence and Marguarite (Atkinson) Pearson. Graduate of East High School, class of 1967. He was a veteran who served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Bill married the love of his life, Glenna Carlson on September 14, 1974. He worked as a tool inspector for Elco / Textron for 31 years. Bill was a die-hard Bears and Cubs fan and was very involved with Boy Scouts Troop 40. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandkids and spending time at the SM&SF Club.
Survived by his wife, Glenna; children, Amanda (Michael) Long, Mathew (Kammi) Pearson, and Katherine (Quinn) Vanderheyden; grandchildren and best friends, Addison Vanderhayden, Reagan Pearson, Luke Long, Malcolm Vanderheyden and Baby Long due January 2018; sister, Jeanine (Ralph) Chambers; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home, North Main Chapel, 2811 North Main St., Rockford. Memorials may be made to SM&SF Club, 1010 Sandy Hollow Rd., Rockford, IL 61109.

    Though Bill and I saw each other only periodically as adults our friendship meant a lot to me, and I always appreciated his making time for me on my occasional trips back to Rockford. He had a big heart (which he didn't always feature) and a curiosity about the world which kept me on my toes. He will be missed. RIP, my friend. My heart goes out to Glenna and the entire Pearson family.

    Our thoughts are with you at this sad time on the passing of Bill. He helped me at East when I just started there. He encourage me to become a wrestler at East. This move later helped me to become a wrestling coach and lead to a 30 plus year involvement with wrestling at East. He enjoyed his sports.
