Mavis Pauline Bell, 108, of DeKalb and formerly of Kirkland died Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Oakcrest DeKalb Area Retirement Center in DeKalb. She was born April 27, 1909 in Independence, Kansas the daughter of Don Paul and Arilla Ella (Querry) Kerr. She married Leroy B. Gliddon on March 3, 1926 in Fredonia, Kansas. She helped her husband run the Drug Store in Kirkland or many years and was a homemaker. After Leroy's death in 1965 she married John Clyde Bell on April 6, 1968 in Kirkland.
Mavis enjoyed needle work, playing the piano, singing in the church choir at First United Methodist Church in Kirkland where she was a member. She also was a member of the Eastern Star and a big Chicago Cubs Fan.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Ester of DeKalb, Lavoy (Virgina) Gliddon of Genoa; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; son-in-law, Lavern "Shorty" Ester; two grandsons, Scott and Jay Gliddon.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd. Quiram Kirkland Chapel, 309 South Fifth Street. Kirkland, IL 60146 with the Reverend Jenny Weber officiating. A visitation will be held from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery in Kirkland.

    Last I heard at my class reunion last year that your mom was still alive. Was just thinking about her tonight so I googled her name and her that she had passed away. I think about her often and a great opportunity she and your father gave me when I was in high school. I know it is been sometime since she passed but I send you my heartfelt condolences.
