Print Obituary & Condolences

Hugh Everett Tucker, 73, of Kirkland, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017.
Born July 19, 1944, in Lindsay, California, the son of Alvie and Mildred (Qualls) Tucker, Hugh married Patricia Olson on November 23, 1968, in Sonora, California. He served three years in the US Army, and worked as a fork-lift driver for General Mills for 25 years. For 15 years, Hugh was a maintenance worker for Salvation Army.
Hugh was a loving husband and father, and loved old cars and car shows. An avid mower, he loved tending the family farm-although he loved to hate the horses. He enjoyed playing and laughing with his grandchildren and great-grandson. He loved laughter and had a great sense of humor. Hugh was known for being neighborly, always good-natured and peaceful.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Eric Tucker and Amanda Barber; grandchildren, Paige (Eric) Ross, Will Holman and Logen Tucker; great-grandson, Liam Ross; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Hearl; son-in-law, Kevin Barber; and his aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday, November 10, 2017, at Quiram Kirkland Chapel, 309 South Fifth St. The funeral service will be held at 7 pm Friday, with Envoy Roger Beck of Salvation Army officiating.
The family extends special thanks to Kindred Hospital, Bethany Rehab & Nursing Center, Northwestern Medicine Hospital and Hospice, and Kish Health System Cancer Center and Radiation, as well as the special friends who have helped the family.
