Print Obituary & Condolences

Patricia "Pat" Nyquist, 86, of Rockford, passed away on October 15, 2017 after a long illness. She was born in Rockford, IL on December 21, 1930, to Leonard and Evangeline Simms. On June 6, 1952 she married Richard "Dick" Nyquist. She was a graduate of West High School and the Swedish American School of Nursing with honors in 1952. She worked as a surgical scrub nurse until retiring to raise her three children: Scott (Judy) Nyquist of Rockford, Pamela (Chuck) Zaugg of Eagle River, WI, and Patti (Tim) Clauson of Rockford. Her family expanded with ten grandchildren and a growing bunch of great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and mother and prayed non-stop for her family. After 2 1/2 years of constant pain from multiple medical problems, we KNOW she is now in a better place. Besides her children and their families, she is survived by her husband, Dick; sister, Wilma Simms; and special friend, Marilyn Miller. She was predeceased by her sister, Beverly (Carl) Linder.
Funeral services to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in First Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford with Rev. Jeff Zaugg (grandson) officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Private burial at Scandinavian Cemetery.
