Obituary

Walena Julia Price-Radell, 92, of Sycamore, Illinois, formerly of Genoa, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, in her home in the Grand Victorian Sycamore. She was born March 22, 1925, to Walter and Elizabeth (Bowen) Chenery in Brighton, MA. On January 14, 1946, she married Albert G. Price; he died in 1994. She remarried in 1995 to Willard Radell who predeceased her in 2004. Walena was with the USO in Boston during WWII and modeled for Bachrach Photography, also in Boston. While living in Chicago, she was a Sunday School teacher at the Congregational Church of Jefferson Park and a Girl Scout leader. Upon moving to Genoa, she worked at GTE and ran the Genoa Cafeteria for years.
Walena is survived by her children, Alberta Leahy of AZ, Walter (June) Price of TX, Roger (Valerie) Price of Littleton, CO, Joyce (Fred) Redinger of Chicago, IL, Thomas (Vicki) Price of DeKalb, IL and Jennifer (Joseph) Schultz of Genoa; daughter-in-law, Joyce Price of Kirkland; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Shirley) Johnston of Auburn, MA; and bountiful nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her two husbands; son, Rex Price; great-grandchild, Ryan; and sister, Jean Patey.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, September 9, 2017, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 206 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL, with a visitation one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sycamore, IL or Northwestern Medicine Hospice in DeKalb, IL.

    I am so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort described in 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 provide comfort for your family. Losing a loved one in death is never easy, but the Bible reassures us in Isaiah 25:8 that soon death will be no more. What a wonderful time that will be for all of us.
