Obituary

Alexander "Al" J. Valadez, 87, of Stillman Valley, passed away August 5, 2017. He was born on April 17, 1930 in Rockford, the son of Frank and Mary (Martinez) Valadez. Alexander attended school at St. Thomas Catholic High School, Rockford. He was a US Marine that served in the Korean War. Alexander married Marcia A. Sutton at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rockford on November 16, 1963. Alexander belonged to Blackhawk Trails Club , was an honor guard for the Pilgrim Virgin Statue and enjoyed dancing. He worked as an accountant with Muller-Pinehurst Dairy up until suffering a debilitating stroke 31 years ago. In spite of all he went through, he courageously faced every day with a smile. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith", 2 Timothy 4: 7.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughter, Mary (Scott) Miller, Stillman Valley; sons, Dave, Stillman Valley and Mark (Karen), Winnebago; 8 grandchildren, Alyssa, Jordan, Colin, Emily, Mark, Joseph, Luke, Joshua; great granddaughter, Blake; cousin, Steve (Becky) Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews . Alexander is predeceased by his parents; brother, Roger Valadez; and sister-in-law, Helen. The family would like to thank the staff at Oregon Living & Rehab Center for their kind and compassionate care of our beloved Al.
Funeral Service will be held on August 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 226 E. Second St., Byron. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017 with Rosary to be recited at 6:45 p.m. in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second St., Rockford and a second visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
