Edward J. Lacerra Jr., 67, of Rockford, passed away on May 26, 2017. He was born on November 21, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Edward and Marguerite (Lembo) Lacerra. Ed was a graduate of Drake University. His love of WWII history included trips to Europe and last year to Iwo Jima. Ed and Sue met at the Rock Valley Ski Association, enjoying 22 years of skiing and traveling together in six countries. Family and friends were so important in his life, especially his grandkids. There was never a dull moment when Ed was there. He was the life of the party. He was noted for giving everyone a nickname and would ask for your bio in 25 words or less. He was a mentor and inspiration in the fastener industry. Ed was self-employed as a manufacturer's sales rep for over 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; children, Kristin (Eric) Kozlik, Scott Lacerra, and Cary (Nicole) Schoeppach; grandchildren, Nick, Jack, and Kassidy Kozlik, Vivian, and Wesley Schoeppach; mother, Marguerite; sisters, Donna (Anthony) Greco, and Joyce (Elio) Mormando. Predeceased by his father.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00, Friday, June 2, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St., Rockford, with Pastor Tony Dusso officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 1 at Giovanni's, 610 N Bell School Rd., Rockford. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4312 E State St, Suite 1, Rockford, IL 61108 or to the family for a scholarship to be established through the Midwest Fastener Association. There will also be a Memorial Service at a future date in Staten Island.,NY.
