Obituary

Barbara Ann McCarren, 64, died unexpectedly at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Barbara was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1953, daughter of Edith and Archie MacCallum. She married Jim McCarren on May 18, 1994 and became a step mother to Jim's sons, Jeremy and Jamie. The lights of her life were her son, Chris, and grandchildren. Barb was a devoted wife, mom, grammie, sister, and friend, and loved spending time with her family. In 2010, she and Jim moved to Plover, Wisconsin to be near her son and grandkids. She loved to dance, laugh, enjoyed doing crafts, talking on the phone, her grandkids baseball games, sister days, cooking for family, planning get-togethers and activities to do with the kids. She loved her lifelong friends too numerous to list and her infamous Bunko girls. She was well known for putting others above herself. She was voted "best sense of humor" in junior high school, and continued to make us all laugh throughout her life. The nurse that cared for her on her last day said she was the perfect combination of sweet and spunky. She leaves her memories to be cherished by her beloved husband, Jim; her son, Christopher Schneider; her grandchildren Kadin, Jackson, and Brooklyn; her sister, Beth MacCallum Marlewski; brothers Robert (Susan Sarwark) and Bruce (Chris Johnson); cousins; her McCarren family; and numerous other dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Barton.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Olson Funeral &Cremation Services, Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family.

A dear woman is now gone from our presence. There are many wonderful memories of her humor, resilience, and devotion to those she loved. She was sweet; and she was spunky; and those are just two reasons she was loved by so many. I'll remember her always with fondness, and caring. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones at this most difficult time.
