Obituary

Frederick Duane Sculley, 97, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 7, 1919, in Grand Rapids, MI; the son of Frederick W. and Ethel L. (Purdy) Sculley. He married Evelyn G. Young on January 26, 1946, in Chicago; she predeceased him August 16, 2011. Frederick was a 1937 graduate of Rockford High School. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of Beloit College and employed with Atwood Vacuum Machine Company where he was Director of Purchasing. Frederick was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, a choir member and at one time the director of the choir. Frederick also belonged to the Purchasing Management Association of Rock River Valley, National Association of Purchasing Management and the Mendelson Club.
He is survived by daughter, Priscilla of Saukville, WI; sons, Robert of Davis, CA, John of Dallas, TX, Kenneth of Eureka Springs, AR, and Alan (Jerri) of Naples, FL; granddaughters, Jennifer and Laura both of Chicago, IL. Predeceased by his parents; sister, Katheryn Lee and daughter, Susan E. Sculley.
Private graveside at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. William Ward officiating. Fellowship and reception open to all will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N. Bell School Rd. Rockford, IL 61107. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or Beloit College, 700 College St. Beloit, WI 53511.
