Obituary

James Lewis Odom, 71, of Romeoville and formerly of Genoa died Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Romeoville. He was born September 10, 1945 in Phil Campbell, AL the son of Lester L. and Lillie F. (Isom) Odom.
He married Barbara White on June 29, 1968 at First Baptist Church in Genoa. James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Northern Illinois University as a campus mailman for 27 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and attended services for 60 years.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; son, Matthew (Holly) Odom; two grandchildren, Zoey and Noah; two sisters, Bernice (Gerald) Durham, Opal (Maurice) Umbdenstock; brother, Larry "Joe" (Brenda) Odom; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Genoa. Interment will be in Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.at Olson Funeral & Cremation services, Ltd., Cooper-Quiram Chapel, 202 E Main Street., Genoa, IL 60135.
