Obituary

Dolores L. "Dee" Lenz, 82, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in River Bluff Nursing Home. She was born May 1, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri; the daughter of Winfred and Margie (Wright) Thomas. Dee's father died when she was 2 years old and her mother remarried James Collicot. When Dee was 12 she moved to Lake City, Iowa. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1952. She was active in Theater Arts and attended Drake University form 1952-1953. Dee was a longtime member of the Rockford Women's Club and a member of The Keith School Parent Teacher Association. Dee married Wayne Lenz on August 30, 1953 and they settled in Rockford. She enjoyed family time, especially around the holidays. She loved vacationing at her family cottage in Wisconsin, skiing in Colorado, and visiting friends in Fort Lauderdale. Dee enjoyed trips to New York along with Wayne to keep track of the progress Matt was making in the theatre world. Dee and Wayne would travel often to Austin, Texas for special time together with Val. She spent many days and hours playing bridge with her friends. She was a loving mother and loyal devoted friend.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Rockford and son, Matthew of New York. Predeceased by her son, Douglas in 1999 and daughter, Valerie in 2013.
A Celebration of Life in Dee's name will be held at a later date. Dee, Wayne and Matt would invite you to do something nice for a family member or a friend or donate to a charity of your choice.
