Phyllis H. Anderson, 86, of Rockford, went to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ surrounded by her family on February 20, 2017. She was born on April 6, 1930 in Rockford, the daughter of Kaleb and Eunice (Fast) Johnson. Phyllis graduated from East High School in 1947. She was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Free Church and active in many of the ministries, including Maranatha Class, Deaconess Ministry, Sarah Circle and Son Risers.
Survivors include husband, Vernon; daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Sutton, and Lori Anderson; son, Kevin (Amy) Anderson; grandchildren, Tim (Jackie) Sutton, Becky (Randy) Warner, and Drew Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jake, Haley, and Ethan Sutton, and Aly, Gavin, and Logan Warner. Predeceased by parents and two sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Fairhaven Health Care Center staff who lovingly cared for her and our family over the past 3 years, as well as Northern Illinois Hospice.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center Chapel, 3470 N. Alpine Rd. Rockford. A second visitation will be on Monday, February 27, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd. Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Chuck Rife and Rev. Bertie Holmgren officiating. Private burial in Arlington Cemetery. Memorials to First Evangelical Free Church Missions or Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center.
