Matthew James Weis, 53, passed away on January 29, 2017 in Lindstrom, Minnesota. He was born on June 10, 1963 in Pennsylvania, the son of James E. and Helene A. (Shuster) Weis. With each breath of his journey through life, Matt experienced people and places with great joy and love. He lit up the sky with his charm and loved to talk about his hunting trips, fishing on the lake near his home and throughout the US. He trained his Vizlas's to hunt and they became his most precious companions. Matt especially enjoyed the latest culinary delight he had cooked for his dear friends in Lindstrom. These memories and the stories from our time spent with him as a family will bring us smiles and comfort and help us celebrate the man we know as our dear brother. Matthew, we love your goodness-and we will love you forever.
Survived by his siblings, Mari Jo Weis Dahlgren of Medford, NJ, Alice Bergstrom of Beecher, IL, Jane (Doug) Weis Proudfoot of Rockford, Beth Ann Weis of Belvidere, Daniel James Weis of Lake Geneva, IL, and James Lee Weis of Rockford; many nieces and nephews; and aunts, Elizabeth Wehler, Joanne (Ken) Gerg and Ann Weis. Predeceased by his parents.

Just like your father and brothers, you were the quintessential sportsman, Matt... Remembering with fondness some of our Saturday morning chases for pheasants, with Spinner or Andrea, revealed a quality in you much more important than the mostly meagre yield of dead pheasants.... I don't recall a single time when Matthew didn't show up with a hot cup of coffee and

I was one of the first people Matthew met in Lindstrom, and we hit it off right away. We shared many good times, but mostly I will remember our trips to South Dakota hunting Pheasants. I will miss his gentle soul, and the way he could befriend anyone. I have many stories of fine meals and laughter, and I am honored to have been able to cross paths with him. He will be greatly missed.

The opening weekend of deer season here in Vermont when four friends piled in a small Toyota pickup and showed their trophies , A night none of us will ever forget . Most of all I will remember your kindness , friendship towards me and my whole family . I bid you farewell Matt , rest in peace my friend . My families condolences to the Weis family and your many friends .

Being Matthews barber these past years I had many conversations with him. I learned of his love for his dogs, his home on the lake, cooking and most of all his family. He loved you all so much. I will miss his sense of humor, his smile and of course his beautiful hair! Peace to you all.

Matthew I will always remember your big heart and kind smile. I was so blessed to grow up as your neighbor and friend. Your family taught me how to laugh and to hug. I will miss you now as I miss your parents. You truly were one of the great ones Matthew.
