Jean L. Peplow, 88, a life-long resident of Sycamore, Illinois, died at Oakcrest Retirement Center on Thursday, January 5, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 20, 1928 in Sycamore to John and Elsie (Gropp) Lindahl. She was a 1947 graduate of Sycamore High School. Jean married Marvin Peplow on April 12, 1951 in Sycamore. She retired from DeKalb Ag after 25 years, where she worked as a secretary. Jean had a great love of animals, including her son's dogs Fritz and Sophie.
Jean is survived by her son, James (Arlene) Peplow and grandson Michael (Jana-fiancée) Peplow of Savannah, GA; older sister Joyce Sayre of Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband and two brothers Wesley and Keith.
Jean's wishes to her family and friends are as follows: I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
The family is respecting Jean's wishes to have a private family burial and no other services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tails Humane Society,2250 Barber Greene Rd., DeKalb, IL 60115. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Quiram Chapels, 1245 Somonauk Street, Sycamore, IL.
