Mildred Marie Montgomery, 97, of Kirkland, IL died on December 31, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 28, 1919 in Clare, IL to Frank M. and Edna Mae (Williams) Carter. Mildred married James E. Montgomery Sr. on August 28, 1954. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2000. Mildred was a seamstress and an excellent cook. Family was very important to her and she had a green thumb. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Belvidere, IL.
Mildred is survived by eight of her children, Janice (Anthony) Suber of Kailua, HI, Rebecca (Rod) Rodriguez of Westaco, TX, James (Rebecca) Montgomery of Kingston, IL, Ruth (John) Johnson of Rhilander, WI, Carter (Doris) Montgomery of Stanford, ME, Bonnie Kolman of Rock Falls, IL, Marilyn Montgomery of Morrison, IL, and Sharon (Don) May of NC; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Merle (Betty) Carter of Sycamore and Richard (Polly) Carter of Sycamore; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughter, Carol Miller; son-in-law, Kent Kolman; sister Doris (Ken) Tucker; and brother, Frank Carter.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Quiram Kirkland Chapel, 309 S. Fifth Street, Kirkland, IL with Reverend Jeremy Weary officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m at the funeral home. Burial in Maple Cemetery in Kirkland, IL. Memorials may be made to the church, Meals on Wheels, of KishHealth System Hospice.
