Russell Wayne Rader, 91, of Belvidere, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019. Born January 1, 1928, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Elbert and Zella (Johnston) Rader. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1948. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. Russell married Susan Rader on December 7, 1974 in Rockford. He worked at American Bank for 23 years and Rock River Ford for 35 years. Russell loved flying and working on his pilot's license. He enjoyed gardening; maintaining his properties, fishing and the peace in Northern Wisconsin. Russell was a man who loved his family very much.
Survived by his wife, Susan; children, Zella (Jim) Nielcen, David (Theresa) Rader, Vicki Bock, Chris (Carmen) Rader, Thomas (Sherri) Rader, Melissa (Ken) Bucalo, and Reese Rader; step-son, Scott (Lori) Glawe; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, William; and very special great-nephew and niece, Connor and Sydney Murphy. Predeceased by siblings, Kenneth, Julie, Norma, Lucy, and Myrna; and mother of his first 5 children, Vida Barr. The family would like to give a special thanks to Tom, Melissa, Reese and Anastasia for all their loving care.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church-Belvidere, 402 Church St., Belvidere, IL 61008 or to the family.
