Obituary

Mary Ann Downey, 83, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Born January 30, 1936, in Clinton, IA, the daughter of John L. and Anna (Howard) Andresen. Graduate of St. Anthony's School of Nursing, 1957. She married Harold J. Downey on October 6, 1967 in Rockford. He predeceased her on March 23, 1988. Mary Ann was a member of St. Edwards Church.
Survived by son, Joseph Bailey of Rockford; step-son, Richard (Kanella) Downey of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Susan Downey of North Carolina; grandsons, Timothy Downey and Joseph Bailey; granddaughters, Jennifer ( Steve) Lawrence, Katie Downey, and Rebecca Bailey; sister, Judy (Donald) Hinz; three great-grandchildren, Evelyn Bailey, Kaiden Barnes, and Oliver Bailey; and nephews, Ronald and Vance Hinz. Also predeceased by her parents; son, Terrance; granddaughter, Rebecca Downey; and great-grandchild, Blake Lawrence.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, with Father William Wentink officiating. Graveside Service will immediately follow the visitation in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, IL.

    I will miss you auntie. I remember all of the summer's I spent with you and the hot dog and cheese sandwiches you made me. I still eat them to this day and think of you. Say hi to grandma for me and give her a big hug. Rest in peace. I love you. Love Ronnie

    rest in peace my dear sister,all of your long lonely days are over,God will take care of all your needs now and he will never be too busy for you.I will miss our phone calls on every sunday at 2pm but I will still talk to you but in a different way.I know you are home safe and sound,with harold an mom,I will miss you forever.They say when you see a cardinal in your yard its a visitor from heaven,please visit me often,till we meet again.LOVE your sister.JUDY.
