Janice E. Leopold, 86, of Rockford, returned home on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Born May 27, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Gordon B. and Marion (Greene) Koch. Graduate of Sycamore High School. She married Russell L. Leopold on September 8, 1951 in Sycamore. Janice worked as a Pre-School teacher for Rockford Public Schools. Member of Christ United Methodist Church and Rockford Women's Club. She enjoyed antiquing with friends, playing bridge and volunteering her time reading at Spring Creek Elementary School.
Survived by her husband, Russell; sons, Brian(Gail) of Valencia, PA and Scott(Sherri) of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Caitlin of Sewickley, PA, Jordan of Seattle, WA, Justin of Lakewood, CO, Joshua (Jessica) of Edwardsville, IL and Elizabeth of Omaha, NE; and sister Carole (Charles) Purcell of Evergreen, CO. Predeceased by parents. Family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
