Obituary

Rosemary Johnsen, 92, of Northbrook, formerly of Rockford, passed away on January 8, 2019. She was born on October 29, 1926 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William Jennings and Gladys Reagan (Burley) Heer. Rosemary married Aleck Johnsen on June 14, 1947 in Decatur. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir, altar guild, and active in many other organizations in the church. Rosemary worked in the WWII War effort followed by Illinois Bell as a telephone operator in Decatur, Champaign, and Rockford. She was involved in many community leadership activities including P.T.A., Jaycees, Jenny Lynn, Cornucopia Food Panty, League of Women Voters, and political interests.
Survivors include her loving spouse, Aleck; children, David (Amalia), Steven (Kathryn), and Frances (Mark) Gasbarra; son-in-law, Dieter Jedan; grandchildren, Nicole (Jason), Noelle (Brian), Heather (Caleb), Aleck (Cara), Dean, Mark (Elaina), Megan (Ryan), Craig, Allison (Paul), Benjamin, Joshua, and William; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kate, Sarah, Lane, Lauren, Lillian, Bay, Luke, Aaron, Lorelei, Adelein, Zachary, Pierce, Brooks, and Rose Marie; brother, Bill E. Heer; and many cherished nieces, nephews and close friends, all of whom filled her life with love and adventure. Predeceased by daughter, Nancy; sister, Barbara (James) McNaught; and sister-in-law, Eileen Heer and other cherished family members.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., Rockford, IL 61104.
