Joanne Marie Builta, 70, of Rockford, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 25, 2018. She was born on August 14, 1948 in Rockford, the daughter of Paul and Linda (Olivotti) Block. Joanne graduated from Boylan High School in 1966 and earned her Associates degree from Rock Valley College. She married Alan Builta on September 2, 1967 at St. Edwards Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose life centered around helping and caring for others
Survived by her loving husband, Alan; children, Jennifer (Douglas) Klitz, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) and Joshua (Julie) Builta; grandchildren, Kayliegh, Madlin, Nicole, Trevor, Lindsey, Lucas, and Olivia; brother, Paul (Sharon) Block; sister, Patricia (LaVerl) Baney. Predeceased by her parents; and granddaughter, Alexandra. A special thank you to the staff at Northern Illinois Hospice and the doctors and nurses at Northwestern Hospital.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knolls Dr., Rockford, IL 61109 with Reverend Ervin Caliente officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. in the church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.

    Alan, I am so sorry to learn of Joanne's passing. I am sure she is at rest now, home with her Lord and Savior, but that doesn't erase the heartache of losing the treasured mate of 51 wonderful years.
