Print Obituary & Condolences

Sharyn K. Anderson, 77, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Born on April 12, 1941, in Rockford, the daughter of Chester and Ruth (Carlson) Pell. Sharyn married Roy Anderson on May 2, 1964 in Rockford. Graduate of Northern Illinois University, she taught at Rolling Green, School of Hope and as a preschool teacher at St. Mark Lutheran Church for 19 years. Sharyn was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Survived by her husband Roy; children, Jeffrey of Milwaukee, WI, Chad of Rockford, Cindy (Steve) Anderson of Bolingbrook, IL, and Jody Hall of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Brandon, Stephanie, & Linnea Anderson, and Madison & Mitchell Hall, and Kayla Strickland; and brother, Tom (Judy) Pell. Predeceased by her sister, Louise Palmgren.

Sharyn had a true passion for gardening. Her dedication showed in the beauty of her stunning garden and flowers. Except when her "honey do list" was miscommunicated and Dad trimmed the wrong flowers. Fortunately, all was forgiven the next season when they once again bloomed after her tender loving care.

Her gift for teaching and love of learning showed in preschool students and her own children. She believed every child has a special talent and you should learn a new thing every day. Her love of life was shared by so many over her wonderful life. She felt truly blessed to have forever friends. Forever friends are golden and she was grateful to have their support and love.

Sharyn taught the importance of family values and traditions. She always made the family gatherings so special and her love, kindness, and compassion was always present. Her dedication to planning and teaching Swedish traditions will continue through her children and generations to come. The most valuable gift a parent can give a child is a good example. For parents, Sharyn and Roy together, gave their children that valuable gift. They together provided unconditional love allowing their children to grow up to be honest, kind, considerate, and grateful for the family they were blessed to have.

Sharyn married her high school sweetheart. Celebrated 55 loving years together. Their life was a fairytale of being best friends, raising a loving family and blessed with eternal love for one another.

Sharyn was wonderful wife, loving mom, and trustworthy and loyal friend to all. Her legacy of love and friendship will continue to live on through all that she touched.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford with Reverend Doctor Mark Hagen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church or The Salvation Army.
