Carol J. Barton, 86, of Loves Park, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018. Born on January 1, 1932 in Rockford, the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Mills) Stotler. Graduate of West High School. She married Harold A. Barton on April 4, 1952 in Aberdeen, Maryland. He predeceased her on October 17, 2015. Carol worked at Concordia Lutheran Church. She was very active in Girl Scouts, member of the Eagles Club, and assisted with Stroke Club: an organization that helped people who had suffered from a stroke.
Survived by her children, Victoria Dyson of Loves Park, Susan Peterson, and Elizabeth Miles both of Seattle, WA, and Harold (Lynn) Barton of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Tiffany Dyson, Eric (Carrie) Hamilton, and Aaron Hamilton; great-grandchild, James Hamilton; and siblings, Tom (Julie) Stotler, Dave (Jan) Stotler, Francis Ruf, Jeanne (Bob) Taft, Margaret Leuter, Linda Condon and Nancy Wolfe. Also predeceased by her parents; and siblings Charles Stotler, Jr. and Dorothy Case. Special thanks to Mercy Home Hospice & Riverbluff Dove Unit for their care.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at American Lombardi Society, 209 Olive St., Rockford, IL with Reverend Dan Herman officiating. Burial in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.

    During the 80's, I was the field executive for Rock River Valley Council of Girl Scouts. It was my pleasure to work with Carol when she was in Winnebago. She taught me a lot and even shared some of her recipes with me. My heartfelt condolences to her family.
