Gordon P. Nordmark, 67, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, after a brief illness. Born December 7, 1950, in Kalimpong, India to Swedish missionaries, Arne and Alice Nordmark. He spent early years in Sweden before the family immigrated to the U.S. in 1954 and settled in New York City. Gordon was a strong student and left home at 16 to attend Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, where he played basketball, met his wife, and earned a bachelor's degree. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a Surgical Technician. Gordon married Pamela Lindvall on August 10, 1974, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1992. He worked for ComEd for 30 years holding a variety of positions and retired as Sr. Engineering Design Tech. Gordon attended Heartland Church, and spent much of his life as a passionate athlete playing basketball, tennis, and golf.
Survived by his wife, Pamela; children, Kit (Christopher Miller), Adam, and Taylor; brother, Sam; sister, Barbro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and twin brother.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Memorials to Rockford Rescue Mission, P O Box 1958, Rockford, IL 61110-0458.
