If someone is able to read this at the Celebration of Life tonight, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm in Buffalo and am unable to make it. Jan was the first woman I remember meeting whose ‘angry sound' was laughter. I could probably count how many times I saw her without a ready smile or laugh on one hand, which I only say because I can't recall those specific times, but admit it's still a fleeting possibility. Even if it seemed like there was nothing to find funny or enjoyable, there she was with a ready laugh or smile. She is the epitome of staying on the sunnyside, looking past the negative. Despite all the ways and times she helped out our Girl Scout ship, my mom and I always found an additional token of appreciation for us around the holidays. She was a ray of hope that could restore your faith in humanity, knowing that such a shining soul still roamed this Earth, and I still see it now in every smile and laugh from her parents and her daughters. I will always treasure the memories we shared, the ship drama we conquered, the marvel we held for all of my mom's crazy plans that worked out, and the unmistakable feeling that she is always behind us. I am a better person having known her, and never will I forget all of the light she brought, all of the light I will continue to pass along. Thank you, Jan. We will always love and miss you.

  2. Heidi Lunquist

I was shocked to hear of Jan's passing. She has done so much for me, including convincing me to move to Denver (where she lived at that time) and introducing me to Alberto, who I married and together we have our daughter, Jessica. My fondest memories are those Friday nights we had family dinners at Farmor's house and watched The Brady Bunch together, and she declared herself as the "Marsha" since she was the oldest of us cousins. "Only the good die young." My thoughts and prayers are with you, Uncle Stan, Aunt Nancy, Randy, and the rest of your family and friends. I so wish I could be there today, but I live in Arizona. Jan is with God now.
