Lt. Colonel Harold Marvin Dahl, 79, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018. Born on July 20, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Harold and Elinor Dahl. He attended Bethel College and the University of Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Psychology. Marvin worked for seven years on the staff of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and during that time he was also a part of Souls Harbor, a local television ministry. He also traveled with various musical gospel teams, including the Palermo Brothers - Youth for Christ International before becoming a Salvation Army Officer. Marvin met Bodil Gotrich at the Minneapolis Temple Corps (#4), Scandinavian Division in 1960 and were married in February of 1964. They have three sons: Daniel, David and Dale who have shared faithfully in the ministry throughout the years.
Survived by his wife, Bodil; sons, Daniel (Colleen) Dahl and David Dahl both of Michigan, and Dale Dahl of Loves Park; and grandchildren, Austin, Carson, & Sydnie. Predeceased by his parents.
A Celebration of Life Sevice will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at The Salvation Army, 500 S. Rockford Ave, Rockford with Lt. Colonel Daniel Sjogren & Major Mark Martsolf officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the celebration of life. Private graveside committal will be held in Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside, IL. In lieu of flowers, Marvin's love of music was his passion. Memorials may be given to The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Youth Music, 500 S. Rockford, Ave, Rockford, IL 61104.
