Luther "Jack" Revels Jr. 73 of Rockford formally of Lake Carroll and Byron, IL passed away October 15, 2018. Born May 5, 1945 in Rockford to Luther and Gladys (Sulser) Revels, Jack married Susan J. Kent on January 28, 1963, married 38 years. They had 3 children, Jeffrey (Sharie) Revels, Luther Revels whom passed away at birth and Lana (Burton) Baker; 8 grandchildren, Mara (Jerry) McCarren, Cecil Revels, McKinzie (Jacob) Munson, Macy Revels, Luke Revels, Teryn Revels, Ashley (Joseph) Beagle and Timothy Baker; and 11 great grandchildren currently. Susan passed away in March of 2015.
Jack held a degree in manufacturing engineering. He worked 17 years at Mattison Machine. He then spent 14 years with Rockwell International in numerous positions leading to plant manager. After Rockwell closed he continued his career with Henry Valve Company and Redmore Products as plant manager. At 55 he decided to follow his dream to start a manufacturing business. In 2000 he created L & J Industrial Staples, Inc. of Shannon. Building the company from ground up and turning it into a very successful company that is still thriving today is his proudest career achievement.
In 2002 Jack married Dorothy "Jodi" Schultz and accepted her son, Martin Schultz as his own. They retired together in 2009. They enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in their Weslaco, TX home.
Jack was an avid golfer and card player. He never met a stranger and became friends with everyone he met. He was a past member of the Lions Club in Byron, IL and a member of St John's Lutheran Church in Pearl City, IL with his wife. He always enjoyed helping in any area he saw a need.
He was a "Jack" of all trades and the patriarch of his family. His family all turned to him for advice and guidance. He'll be truly missed, and has given us an endless supply of memories to cherish and share.
He is pre-deceased by both his parents; and 6 siblings, Joyce Halfman, Phyllis Ronk, Martha Boughman, Douglas Almquist, Hank Almquist and Johnny Revels. He is survived by his wife Jodi, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were all the lights of his life.
