Robert M. Tennant, 94, of Rockford, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 17, 1924, in Dixon, IL, the son of Vern and Beulah (Senneff) Tennant. Bob graduated from Dixon High School and attended Lawrence University before entering the Army. He graduated from the University of Illinois, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture in 1950. He worked for C. Edward Ware Associates Inc. Architects in Rockford for 43 years. Bob served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Margaret Anderson on September 28, 1947, in Dixon. Bob was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, serving on the Deacon Board, Church Council, Missions Commission, Shepherding Commission, Fine Arts Committee, Maranatha Adult Community, and Son Risers. He was a former member of the Jaycees, Northern Illinois Chapter of American Institute of Architects, Rockford Art Association, Midway Village Museum Center, and Northern Illinois Botanical Society.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; daughters, Deborah (Bruce) McDonald, Rebecca (John) Christensen, and Lisa (Joseph) Greco; son, Reid Tennant; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, in Fairhaven Chapel, 3470 N Alpine Rd., Rockford, with Pastor Chuck Rife officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 8, 2018 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave., Rockford. Memorials may be made to First Free Church, 2223 N Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61107, Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, or Rockford Rescue Mission, P.O.Box 1958, Rockford, IL 61110. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, IL.
