Obituary

Emil M. Hahn, 91, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Wesley Willows. Born on September 6, 1927, in Chicago, the son of Emil and Hedwig "Hattie" (Wedel) Hahn. Graduate of Lane Technical High School, Class of 1945. He received his Master's Degree from Northwestern University. Emil was a merchant marine and a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean War. He married Eleanor E. Bartman on November 6, 1954, in Chicago. She predeceased him on October 10, 2007. Emil worked for Ingersoll Milling Machine Company, Rock Mill Company as Vice President, and Numeri-Comp Company owner and President for 27 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, served on the Board of Education and Stewardship Committee, Audit Commission, Urban Ministry, and ushered for many years. Emil was also an active parent participant in Special Olympics, served as Treasurer at Rockford Lutheran High School, Board Member of ARC, and served on the school board.
Survived by his daughters, Sandra Hahn and Jennifer Hahn; sons, Paul Hahn and Matthew (Gwen) Hahn; grandchildren, Joshua, Noah & Gracie Hahn; and nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by his parents; and brother, George Hahn.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in St. Paul Lutheran Church (Northwest Site), 4881 Kilburn Ave, Rockford with Reverend Frank Ciprys officiating. Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockford SO (Special Olympics), 850 N. Church St. Rockford, IL 61103 or St. Paul Lutheran Schools, 811 Locust St, Rockford, IL 61101.

    Emil was my boss for many years at Numeri-Comp long ago. He was always generous and kind to us. I appreciated all he had taught me during those years. My deepest condolences and prayers to the family.
