Obituary

Marsha L. Berens, 69, of Rockford, passed away on September 5, 2018. She was born on July 19, 1949 in Boise, Idaho, the daughter of Roger and Georganna (Barger) Evans. Marsha graduated from Wheeling High School in 1967 and worked for JC Penny as a department supervisor for 27 years. She married Ronald Berens on November 15, 1969 in Chicago. He predeceased her on November 13, 2016.
Survived by her daughter, Lynette Whitacre (Berens); granddaughter, Candice Whitacre; brothers, Lance and Scott Evans; and "special friend" Private Madaline Perez. Predeceased by parents; son, William; and husband, Ron. "A special thanks to all my dearest friends who helped and supported me through the difficult and wonderful times of my life. To my best friends, Barb Lange, the Cummings, the Evans, and Dave Perez." Special thanks to the doctors and nurses in the oncology unit at Swedish American Hospital.
Memorial visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Fred C. Olson Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4312 E State Street, Suite 1, Rockford, IL 61108.
