Print Obituary & Condolences

Sandra Joyce Duecker Larson Smith, 79, died suddenly on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Geneva, IL. Born June 19, 1939 to parents Leonard and Gertrude Larson in Sycamore, IL, and grand daughter to Fred E and Jesse A. Larson of Sycamore and Silas I. and Pearl Eames of DeKalb.
Sandra attended Lovell Elementary School and graduated from Sycamore High School in 1957. Sandra was enrolled in her first year of nursing school at St Lukes Medical College in Evanston, IL when she met Gerald L. Duecker of Cincinnati, OH, who was in his final year of his doctoral program at Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston IL. They were married in October of 1958. Sandra took a job with Merrit and Evans Architectural Firm in Evanston, IL and when Gerald graduated from the seminary they relocated to Michigan for his internship year, eventually settling in Milford, OH. Sandra pursued a career as a Mary Kay Cosmetics and Luzier Cosmetics consultant, and later became a sales representative of Reliv Nutritional products. Sandy was confirmed into the Salem Lutheran Church of Sycamore and later became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Milford OH, serving as liaison to the Trinity Ladies League.
Sandy's sunny demeanor served her well throughout her life. Her mantra and motto throughout life's years was "health is wealth" and she worked tirelessly to bring just that into the lives of all who she met. She was persistent in teaching that life held everything we needed when we live by the golden rule and she was a loving example of that direction. Through life's setbacks she was resilient and able to find the bright side to her predicaments. She had an enduring faith in the Holy Bible, and the Gospel given by Jesus Christ served her well through her earthly life and will lead the way in her paradise ascent.
Sandra is joyfully reunited with her children Brian and Diane. She will be terribly missed by her children and their spouses, Gregory Duecker, Pamela (Duecker) and Shawn Clark, Tauntra (Burton) and John McClintock, her five grandchildren, Taylor Marie Duecker, Jessica and Ethan Clark, and Marin and Arya McClintock, her brother Larry Larson, her maternal aunt, Lucille Eames Warm, and many cousins. Though she is gone, she leaves us with wonderful memories, which we will always cherish.
Interment will be held on Wednesday, August 22, at the Elmwood Cemetery, 901 South Cross Street, Sycamore, IL graveside service at 3:30 pm.
