Print Obituary & Condolences

Wendy Denise Donahoe returned to her heavenly home on June 25, 2018, after suffering cardiac arrest, she was 36. Born in Rockford, Illinois, to Jody and Gary (Ike) Donahoe on January 14th, 1982. Though small in stature, Wendy was large in spirit and life. Her loving husband (Joshua) says she was the best thing to ever happen to him.

Wendy loved her children with a force stronger than nature. You could often find her telling a funny story or showing pictures of her children to others. True joy came from spending time with Hailey (age 14) Daniel (age 10) and David (age 3 months). Wendy loved her family, the bond she shared with her Aunt Sue (Susan Howell) and Cousins Dawn (Burton) and Trisha (Montgomery) was a source of strength for her. After Wendy's mother passed away, "Grandma Sue" seamlessly stepped in to help care for Wendy and her children.

Wendy had an inherent love of music and reading, passed down from her mother, and they would never miss an opportunity to dance when their favorite songs played on the stereo.

Wendy had a desire to help others and to make them happy. Loved ones recall that she often was found trying to cheer them up when they were sad. Her last act of love was to donate her organs to help save those that were in desperate need. Wendy was a fierce advocate of organ donation after witnessing the powerful impact donation had when her own mother received a new kidney.

Wendy was preceded in death by her mother, Jody Donahoe,; Grandfathers, Bill Nilsson and Vincent Donahoe; Grandmother, Iva Donahoe; and Nephew, Jack Marler. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joshua Sillanpaa; her children, Hailey Donahoe, Daniel Arroyo, and David Sillanpaa; father, Gary (Ike) Donahoe; brother, Timothy Marler II (Kaydee); Grandmother, Doris Nilsson; and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave, Rockford, IL. Private Graveside Services in Mouth of Stillman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at
