Obituary

Dorothy M. Lepke, 87, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center. Born on February 22, 1931, in Kindred, North Dakota, the daughter of Tobias and Henrietta (Peterson) Lee. She married James "Jim" Lepke, Sr. on December 11, 1954 in Rockford. He predeceased her on March 26, 1995. Dorothy was the owner of L&A Painting in the 70's and worked as a foreman at Drop Forge. She was a hard worker with a fearless attitude. Dorothy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Harmony Singing Society. She enjoyed gambling, bowling, traveling to Minnesota, and fishing. Dorothy also had a love for animals. She made wonderful chicken dumplings and pancakes for her grandchildren and cooked a roast every Sunday after church.
Survived by her sons, James Lepke, Jr. of Genoa, WI and Bruce (Julie Hysmith) Lepke of Rockford; daughter, Jamie (Anthony Schiro) Lepke of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Brenda (Seth) MacCutcheon, Brandon (Casey), Tobias (Apple), Jancyn, Jenner (Jessica), Ryan (Natalie) Moberg-Lepke, Blake and Anna; great-grandchildren, Austin, Annika, Acacia, Andon, Beulah, Eden, Zion, Jaylynn, Ceanna, Brock, and Luke; and siblings, Shirley, Betty, Marlys, and Dennis. Also predeceased by her son, Duane Lepke; and several siblings.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave., Rockford. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

    Sorry I won't be able to make the visitation due to personal problems. I do want to offer my condolences for your loss. I know from experience that the pain will lessen over time. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

    I remember this nice lady...my condolences to all..my mom still lives in same house in that old neighborhood on Lynnwood st....but I remember her fondly...sorry for your loss.

    I was sorry to hear about Dorothy's passing. She is now with my mom, Mandy, and I ‘ m sure she is being cared for. They were always doing things together until a few years ago and now they are together again. She is at peace and in the loving arms of her family. She will always be looking down on all of her family with love for all of you. Hopefully, you will remember all the wonderful memories and it will make you smile when you think of her.
