Marlene M. Peterson, 87, of Rockford, passed away on May 23, 2018. She was born on February 21, 1931 in Loves Park, the daughter of Asa and Mary (Cook) Kinson. Marlene graduated from Harlem High School in 1949. She married Gunnar W. Peterson on October 21, 1950. He predeceased her on April 4, 2006. Marlene worked in customer service at Parkside Warehouse for 24 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Women's Bowling Conference and Girl Scouts of America.
Survived by her daughters, Lynnetta (Mark) Jacobson and Paula (Brad) Elmhorst; grandsons, Benjamin Jacobson and Adam (Lisa) Elmhorst; granddaughters Diana (Michael) Hutzler and Jennifer (Johan) Hendrikse; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Brady, and Madeleine. Also predeceased by parents; sisters, Janet Kinson Lemke and Maxine Kinson; and brothers, Doug and Roger Kinson.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Noon in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1002 2nd Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 - 11:45 am in the Chapel. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Ave., Rockford, IL 61104.
