Obituary

Mary Lou Stone, 100, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. Born on May 8, 1918 in Evanston, IL, the daughter of Simon and Elizabeth (Miller) Carlson. She graduated from Evanston Township High School, Class of 1936 and graduated Woodrow Wilson Jr. College. Mary Lou married Carl L. Stone on November 25, 1939 in Chicago, IL. He predeceased her on December 5, 1981. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was a part of Rebecca Circle.
Survived by her sons, James (Lois) Stone, Thomas (Diane) Stone, and Phillip (Ruth) Stone; daughter, Linda (Robert) Bergwall; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew; and several cousins. Also predeceased by her parents; and brother, Thomas Carlson.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4620 20th St., Rockford with Reverend Joanne Adrian officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Rd., Skokie, IL. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Franklin Grove Living & Rehab, 502 N. State St., Franklin Grove, IL 60076 or Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W. State St., Rockford, IL 61102.
