Print Obituary & Condolences

Dorothy L. Bjork, 88, of Rockford passed away on May 21, 2018 at Lincolnshire Memory Care Facility after a long journey with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Born September 6, 1929 in Cokato, MN, the daughter of Walter and Rhoda Tack. Dorothy graduated from Cokato High School and attended college in Minneapolis. She married William Bjork on February 6, 1954 in Rockford; he predeceased her on May 16, 2006. She worked for the Rockford School Board and Toledo Screw Machine Products, but most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her passions were gardening, traveling, reading, and staying in contact with family and friends. She shared kindness with everyone she met and had a sense of humor loved by all.
She is survived by her daughter Diane (John) Wiggs; son, Alan (MaryAnn) Bjork; grandchildren Benjamin Bjork of Walnut Creek, CA and Dr. Alison Bjork- (Dr. Eric) Pease of Rochester, MN; sister Lois Marander; brother Paul Tack; cousins; nieces; nephews; and longtime friends. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband; twin brother Don, his wife Jan; brother Marvin Tack; and several other family members and dear friends.
Many people helped care for Mom in the last several years. We would like to thank Wesley Willows for the support that they provided and Andrea for the personal care that she provided. Lincolnshire Memory Care provided a home for Mom for the last three years and made her comfortable in a very difficult phase of her life. Our highest compliment is the staff at Lincolnshire treated Mom like their own family and we cannot thank them enough. Transitions Hospice Care was wonderful.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:30 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N. Bell School Rd, Rockford, 61107.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Milestone, Inc. 4060 McFarland Road, Rockford, IL 61111 to be used towards a nursing scholarship fund for the much needed nurses at Milestone, Inc. or to Rush University Medical Center for Alzheimer's Research, 1201 W.
