Obituary

Doreen J. Magee, 81, formerly of Rockford, passed away on May 8, 2018. She was born on June 9, 1936 in Rockford, the daughter of Raynold T. and Linnea M. (Nelson) Segerlind. Doreen graduated from East High School in 1954. She worked as a secretary for Rockford Screw Products and also for Chicago Motor Club. Doreen married Donnie L. Magee on September 28, 1957 in Salem Lutheran Church, Rockford. He predeceased her on August 25, 2014. Doreen was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (John) Hartz; son, Kurt Magee; sister Judith (William) Ramboldt; grandchildren, Kylee, Annie, Joshua, Tanya, and Robert; great-grandchildren, Farrah, Madelynn, Hailie, Jeffrey, Anthony, and Abigale; brother-in-law, Michael (Dixie) Magee; and several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by daughter, Kimberly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 in Olson North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., Rockford, with Reverend Megan Vaughan officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 12:45 prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4312 E State St., Suite 1, Rockford, IL 61108 or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E Ohio St, Chicago, IL 60611.

    I am Kurt's neighbor Greg. I remember meeting Doreen at his house think it was for Christmas. She was so happy to be around her son and grandchildren. She was witty, polite and positive. Very classy lady. Wish i got to know her more. She is now with her husband who she missed deeply. Love to family, Greg, Wendy, Brianna, Jeff, Chance, Milly, George, fish, and Kasey. Huntersville NC.

    So sorry about Doreen's passing. She and Don were such a devoted couple. I remember well how she entertained us at a church luncheon while telling the story of how she and Don met. They are together again forever.

    Judy and family. I saw Doreen's obit in today's paper. I remember her well. I wish I could be there but unfortunately cannot. I will say prayers for Doreen. Wishing you well.
