Donald R. Skadow, Sr., 83, of Davis, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Born on January 26, 1935 at Swedish Covent Hospital in Chicago, the son of Herman and Lillie (Koeditz) Skadow. Graduate of Main Township High School in Park Ridge, IL, class of 1953. Don married Grace Knoedler on December 21, 1955 at St. Mark in Chicago, IL. He worked for Bell & Howell for 27 years; then started as a Dairy Farmer until retiring from farming in 2003. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Durand where he was a part of Building & Grounds Committee and Coffee House Chairman. Don was a Boy Scout Leader, played on the Bell & Howell basketball team, member of Drake Fishing & Hunting Club, Lion's of Durand, and avid Cub's Fan. He was an outdoors man who enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
Survived by his best friend and dear wife, Grace; loving father to, Donald Skadow, Jr., John (Mary Ann) Skadow, and Tom (Kim) Skadow; loving grandfather to, Karen Skadow, Bobby (Caroline) Skadow, Mathias Skadow, Hannah Skadow, and Issac Skadow. Predeceased by his parents; brother, H.G. "Bud" Skadow; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Skadow.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church - Durand. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church. We are both honored to say that we had a privilege to know Donald Sr. I treasure the memories of visiting him and Grace at their home numerous times, having great talks, and obviously going fishing together!
