Henny was my Sunday School teacher at one time. We've crossed paths in recent years at area restaurants mostly, and she always warmly greeted me and wanted to know about my activities. She had a gift for looking for the best in people, had a sharp wit, and a servant's heart for the Gospel.

  2. John Wickman

Both Henny and I worked for many years at First National Bank in Rockford. Henny was a pleasure to work with at the bank and I feel honored to have known her. May her soul rest in peace. My condolences to her family.

What a wonderful teacher! Putting up with us!

  4. Steve & Loretta Thompson

We have fond memories of Henny. We first met her in Search Bible Class. She invited us to a very nice lunch at her home. She cared deeply about people and made them feel special. She told Steve that he reminded her of John the Baptist. The last time we saw her was at a concert of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. She reached out to us, and we were moved by her warm greeting.

  5. Holly Watkins Johnston

I too had Henny as a Sunday School teacher. She was part of a core group of faith leaders for many of us. I treasure a picture she gave me not terribly long ago. It was taken from the current sanctuary, looking up from the pulpit towards the main (original) building including the cross. On the back of the picture she included the words written inside the pulpit. A good and faithful servant who guided many over many years of their lives.

Henny was my Sunday School teacher. Some teachers stand out in our memories and she was one of them. Steadily and consistently sharing the love that is Christ with us all. What a model for living!
