Lt. Robert "Bobby" "Bob" Peterson, 74, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center. Born on November 30, 1943, in Rockford, the son of Gunnar and Mabel (Johnson) Peterson. Graduate of East High School. Bob married Susan Schuldt on June 16, 1973 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. They first met on a blind date and were engaged within 5 weeks. He was in the Marine Reserves. Bob was a Fire Lieutenant with the Rockford Fire Department for 34 years. He was a member of the "20 year" Rockford Firefighters and also a member of Rockford Ski Club and BMW motorcycle club. Bob enjoyed fishing and rifle shooting - he was a survivalist who could live off the land. He donated countless gallons of blood over the years.
Survived by his wife, Susan; children, Anna (Donald) Ball and Laura Peterson; grandchildren, Makaila, Marcus, Mahki and Jackson; brother, Ronald (Friend, Ala) Peterson; sister-in-law, Janice Peden; brother-in-law Robert (Sharon) Schuldt; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his fellow brothers in RFD. Predeceased by his parents; son and best friend, Brian Robert Peterson; infant son, Michael Robert Peterson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Florence Schuldt; and brother-in-law, Thomas Peden. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and Rosewood Care Center for the loving care he received.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Alpine Lutheran Church, 5001 Forest View Ave., Rockford with Reverend Dan Wynard officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Burial at Willwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a tree to be planted in his name and for a memorial to be established for Parkinson Research.

    Sue I am sorry for your loss. I remember the blind date so well, I was there. We worked at the bank together.( I hope you remember me.) I always knew the 2 of you were made for each other. I remember your wedding and being in it. It was a beautiful day. God bless you and your family in the time of you loss. He was a sweet man.
