Jane L. Bengtson, 91, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at home. Born on November 29, 1926, in Rockford, the daughter of Lars and Alma (Schoug) Ekwall. She attended East High School, Class of 1944. Jane married Thorsten Bengtson on June 6, 1953, in Rockford. He predeceased her on July 24, 1986. She worked at City of Rockford Water Dept., Jackson - Keye Real Estate, and Lloyd's Electric & Battery before retiring on January 30, 1994. Jane was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was part of Miriam Circle.
Survived by her sons, Peter (Terry) Bengtson of Greenfield, WI, Timothy Bengtson of Rockford, and Alan (Christine) Bengtson of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren, Erik Bengtson and Britta (Casey) Donnelly, and Bethany Wagner; and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her parents; sisters, Gladys Josephson, Lilly Weast, and Alice Gibson; and brother, Victor Ekwall; and brothers-in-law, John and Glenn Bengtson.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Fred C. Olson Chapel with Reverend Jane McChesney officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services in the chapel. Burial at Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, 225 S. 3rd St., Rockford, IL 61104.

3/29/2018 9:06:59 PMAlways felt so welcomed at Aunt Jane's home for Christmas Eve celebrations. I remember sitting with Aunt Jane and watching her do her needlework which I do to this day.
