Obituary

Lillian O. Enge, 94, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 in her home. Born on October 24, 1923, in Boynton, Florida, the daughter of Eston G. and Ruby L. (Spafford) Hodges. Graduate of Winnebago High School, Class of 1943. Lillian married Guenther Enge on October 6, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He predeceased her on May 16, 2017. She worked as a bookkeeper at First National Bank & Trust Company before working with her husband as a florist for Centerville Florist and Greenhouse. After the closing of the floral and greenhouse business she worked for Bill Doran Wholesale Florist for 10 years. Lillian also worked for the 4th Street Florist and Pepper Creek Florist. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was part of the Ladies Mission Society, Ladies Guild, Altar Guild, Peacemakers Quilters, Chancel Choir and a former Sunday School Teacher. Lillian was also a former member of Centerville Community Club.
She is survived by her children, Linda (John) Henkel of Frankfort, KY, Molly (Tom Morgan) Hughes of Schenectady , NY, Karla (Les Horowitz) Woodworth of Machesney Park, IL, Grady (Phyllis) Enge of Longmont, CO, Susan (Ron) Watson of Loves Park, and Peter (Kathy) Enge of Edwardsville, IL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Weems (Birtie) Hodges; brother-in-law, Carl (Kathryn) Enge; and nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Frances, Lois May and Wilda; two brothers, Eston and Bruce; son-in-law, Donn "Woody" Woodworth; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William (Mary) McDonald.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4881 Kilburn St. Rockford with Reverend Frank Ciprys officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the celebration. Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or St. Paul Lutheran School.
