Lynette Irene Vitale, 75, of Rockford, passed away during the early morning hours of Thursday, August 24, 2017 due to complications of chemo from a recurrence of a lymphoma of eight years before. We are beyond sad by her passing yet so thankful for her life. Lynette was born on May 20, 1942, the daughter of Burnell and Vivian (Melquist) Carlson at Swedish American Hospital - where she passed on Thursday - the circle of life. Lynette loved her husband, Benny, of 57 years. And he loved her; she was his life. She loved her children, Michael and Kristine. And they loved her completely. Lynette loved her family, and to call out just two - cousins, Dana (Anderson) Rogers and Donna (Melquist) Linhart - who have been amazing beyond words during this time, and throughout her life. She loved her lifelong friend, Pixie Fontechia. Friends, too many to mention by name, she loved and supported and enriched. And they did the same for her. Lynette showed her family and friends how to love. She was love. Thanks, Mom!
Predeceased by her sister, Sally. Lynette was always there for Sally and Sally's family. She loved being with her.
A celebration of Lynette's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 in First Lutheran Church, 225 S. 3rd Street, Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral in the church. Light lunch at noon. A short graveside service at Scandanavian Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. The family asks that any memorials be made to Hoo Haven, 10823 Cleveland Rd., Durand, IL 61024. God bless you all!

Condolences & Shared Memories (4)

  1. Troy & Jackie Fontechia

Thoughtful Lynette's sweet smile is the first thing that comes to mind when we think of her. No doubt she brought joy to all she encountered. I know my mom cherished every moment they shared and always looked forward to their next adventure. She will be missed but never forgotten. I know we will think of her every time our boys have a birthday and her sweet and thoughtful cards for them are no longer part of the joy. We trust the Lord to comfort all her friends and family at this very difficult time.
