Richard J. Stank, 90, of Rockford, died peacefully at River Bluff Nursing Home May 27, 2017. Born May 7, 1927, in Rockford, to John and Verona Stank. He attended East High School and served in the Army Air Force for three years at the end of World War II. Richard married Dorothy Bell Nov. 22, 1950, in Denver, CO. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from University of Denver. Richard spent most of his career with Sundstrand Corp., retiring in 1986 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, a position that allowed him to travel worldwide. Richard was known for his quick wit and keen sense of humor. He enjoyed life - especially time with family and friends, golf, music, holidays and, most of all, the beach in Naples, FL.
Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Bell) Stank of Rockford; daughter, Sue (Dick) Van Sickle of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Kevin (Laurie) Richards of Lake Forest, IL; sister, Sharon (Steve) Liebmann of New York City; grandchildren, David (Melissa Lee) Peterson of Tolleson, AZ; Rebecca (Sam) Hotchkiss of Albuquerque, NM; and DaMonique Richards of Chicago; great-grandsons, Nolan Peterson and Noah Hotchkiss; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, stepfather Orie Peterson, and sisters, Carol and Jeanne.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave., with Rev. Dean Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
