Bernita A. Grow, 86, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, in Morning Star Village. She was born January 31, 1931, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Carrol and Helen (Harbeck) Rundblade. Bernita married Warren A. Grow on October 22, 1949, in Rockford. Bernita was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning food, crocheting, and knitting. Bernita loved her family beyond measure and was very involved in their lives.
She is survived by her husband, Warren A.; son, Charles (Malea) of Gilbert, AZ and daughter, Nancy (Paul) Rehberg of Rockford; grandchildren, Nathan Charles and Allison Renee Grow; adopted granddaughter, Kristi Fane; grandson-in-law, Kristofor Franklin; sister, Raye Wilkinson and brother, Carl Rundblade; along with dear friend, Diana Gorrell. Predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Jean; granddaughter, Kristin L. Rehberg Franklin; sister, Ruth Platt and brothers, Richard Rundblade and Alan Ray. She adored animals especially her grand dogs, Tiger Lily, Simba, and Oliver. The family would like to thank the staff at Morning Star Village and Heartland Hospice for the love and care they gave Bernita.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave. Rockford with Pastor Joanne Adrian officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Memorials to Heartland Hospice, 363 Financial Court, Unit 300, Rockford, IL 61107.

I have so many memories of summer fun, birthdays, and of course New Years Eves spent together... I can imagine Bernita and Mom (Bobbe), best friends together again.

    I always enjoyed visiting at Aunt Bernita's house. As my brother Brian mentioned, she made the best Swedish pancakes! Loved eating large family meals at her house and enjoying family time when we were younger. We will miss you Aunt Bernita.

    Aunt Bernita always made us Swedish pancakes when we visited. Hers were the best and I always looked forward to visiting. Also walking her down the aisle, 'ushered' at Nancy's wedding. Missing you Aunt Bernita.

    We were so blessed to know her. She always put sunshine in our lives. She was adored by Kristin who was the one who brought her into our lives. Kristin was worried about being there alone but 2 little sweet hearts awaited her and now she's blessed again with grandma. Been its will be greatly missed.
