Toby R. Wade, 43, of Rockford, passed away on March 17, 2018 from complications following a brain aneurysm. He was firstborn of Randy and Pat (Bevan) Wade, and the doctor who delivered him noted that he was the first child he'd ever seen who was born with muscles. He used that great strength and energy throughout his life to build, help, repair and nurture.
In October of 2016, he married Kristal Hildebrand, a partnership that brought great joy and added Kris to the family that survives him: his children, Kalin (fiancé Aubrey Smith), Katy (Nathaniel) Fansler, Riley and Emma Wade; grandson, Wade Wright; Sarah Wade, the mother of his children; parents Randy and Pat Wade; siblings, Russ (Carlie) Wade and children Ashley and Gabe; Andrew (Colleen) Wade and children Lily, Ellie and Ruby; Jennifer (Rob) Swiss and children Piper and Liam; Jessica (Mike) Intravaia and children Bella, Laney, Eli and Drew; grandmother Edith Bevan, and aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his grandparents Jesse and Pauline Wade and John Bevan.
Toby loved the outdoors, and had hoped for many more evenings on the deck and at the barbeque. His home realized a dream for him and Kris. From there he fished and kayaked, ID'd wildflowers and birds, and passed his appreciation of nature to his children. He traveled, read widely, and supported the Cubs and Bears. It tells a lot about him that his all-time favorite player was Walter Payton - "Sweetness". Toby treasured his friends, keeping strong friendships dating back to age three. He had a soft spot too for his pals Titan, Jack and Crash.
"Papa Toby" taught his grandson Wade to swim. He grilled steaks, hosted family gatherings, and still found time to work as fabrication and purchasing manager at Nelson Fire Protection. We will deeply miss him, and we are better people for being a part of his life. Special thanks from the family to the staff at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.
Memorial Services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, IL with Rev. Brent Dahlseng officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to any family member will establish a fund for his children.

Pat, Randy, and family, the video speaks volumes. No one collects such a vast amount of images without having great affection for the person. In the short amount of time I knew Toby I would attest to his affable personality. I am sorry his time was short but his connection with others through your family will not be unnoticed. He will be missed.

Toby coached my son, Adam at Roy Gayle and he not only taught the boys baseball he taught them how to respect each other and themselves. He not only taught them how to win, but how to play together as a team and to make sure you had fun doing so. Toby will be truly missed by his awesome family and the many people that he didn’t realize how he made a difference in their lives as they grew up.
